Birds of a Feather

A joint exhibition with local artist Tristan Marler aka Manawa Tapu. Both myself and Tristan exhibited a body of works that explored and honoured Māoritanga through the symbol of bird, Aotearoa’s original inhabitants.

The figurative birds in my work are a reflection of my ancestral heritage, a symbol of my tupuna and a gateway between this world and the afterlife.The use of birds in my works are portrayed as “The Watchers”, physical forms that have descended in to the next life that continue to hold a spiritual presence and light the way in this life.
